In the Spirit of the Season

I know I am not the first to warn you, but the holidays are quickly approaching. In fact, if you haven't had a chance to identify that last finding for every auditor on your list, it may be too late. Well, with all the hustle and bustle, I wanted to provide you a small respite. For these last few days leading up to Christmas, I'd like to share some of my favorite holiday postings from the past.

To start things out, fill your cup with gingerbread latte, make up a batch of your favorite holiday cookies, and join us in the glow of the computer screen as we sing some classic auditing carols.

Auditing is Coming to Town

Oh, you better watch out. You better not cry.
You better not pout, I'm telling you why.
Auditing is coming to town.

They're building their tests, checking them twice.
Separating the crooks from the nice.
Auditing is coming to town.

Accountants in the office have thrown the books away.
They're burning all the files 'cause they don't know what to say.

Oh, you better watch out. You better not cry.
You better not pout, I'm telling you why.
Auditing is coming to town.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
If you don't look too closely,
Things look real good, mostly,
And work disappears.
It's the most wonderful time of the year

It's the hap-happiest season of fun.
We focus on quantity.
Who cares for quality?
Just get it done.
It's the hap-happiest season of fun.

We've got all of this work due and no one to turn to
'Cause everyone's on PTO.
But it's all silver linings; we'll say there's no findings,
And anyway who's gonna know.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
All the audits are closing,
No findings disclosing.
Protect your career.
It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Find Yourself a Solid Little Finding

Find yourself a solid, little finding,
One that all agree,
Makes sense and can be defended easily.

Find yourself a solid, little finding.
Make the audit pay.
From then on no one will question what you say.

Years ago it was easier, so much breezier to say,
"This is wrong 'cause we say it's so." And then we'd just go away.

Through the years our jobs got so much harder — questions come our way.
Now they make us prove it each and every day.
So find yourself a solid, little finding now.

I'll be back tomorrow. And, just maybe, I'll have something new towards the end of the week.
