A Quick Note About Unexpected Connections
No one really has time on a Friday. We are all striving for one thing – get through the day and get to the weekend. Accordingly, whenever I actually post on a Friday, I'll make it a quick hit – 200 words or less.
Fortune favors the prepared mind.
Serendipity is just another word for finding what you already knew you were looking for.
Pay close attention by turning the other way.
Look out! Incoming!!!
Yesterday, 7:00 am, I sat at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Hotel coffee shop blearily trying to order breakfast and coffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffee! My eyes accidently coordinated focus on the placemat in front of me.
Unused synapses shrugged morning off their shoulders as I read something that caused a connection to stuff I've been fiddling with almost 10 years.
Skip the details of what I saw and what I'm working on. What matter is that, in spite of being in Las Vegas and being hungry and being caffeine-deprived and suffering morning blindness, I managed to assimilate information unrelated to anything currently happening to a situation hiding somewhere in the back of my mind.
You never know when it will happen. All you can do is try to be present when "eureka" strikes.
And it doesn't help to try and force brilliant connections. It only helps to practice, and then sit back, ignore the problem, and wait.
